In March, 2003, with the establishment of the Department of Homeland Security, the U.S. Border Patrol and the inspectional components of the Immigration and Naturalization Service, Animal Plant and Health Inspection Service and the U.S. Customs Service, were combined into a new agency: U.S. Customs and Border Protection. For ease of use, archives for 2003 are presented as CBP archives, even though the reorganization did not take place until March of that year.
